Patriot Act Deep Cuts

Patriot Act touches on issues that face society today in a fun and educational way. It is filmed in front of a live studio audience, which makes it feel like a live stand up show. The difference here is that Hasan Minjah does a segment called “Deep Cuts”. Basically this series show the parts of the filming that does make it to the final cut of the episode. It gives Hasan a chance to engage with the audience and answer personal, silly, and sometimes serious questions about the world we are living in. The questions he answers during this part are submitted by an audience member. The crowd gets the chance to interact with Hasan on a personal level and helps with the overall atmosphere of the show in general. Sometimes they even get some comedian friends to stop by and talk like Phoebe Robinson, Desus and Mero. You never know what is going to be discussed but you know it will be entertaining. Hasan says “This is my favorite part of the show!” Check all the episode at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE6linSnhLs377HnPjCNKbSezvRjLHg0k

Ron Burgundy Podcast

“Don’t act like you’re not impressed.” – Ron Burgundy

Our favorite comedic news anchorman, Ron Burgundy, visited multiple late night television shows last week to promote the second session of the Ron Burgundy podcast. What was even more impressive, Ron visited all of the late night shows in a single evening proving that he has the makings of comedy legend! Each performance was different and involved some stand-up comedy, revisiting original quirks from the movies as well as new jokes. The Ron Burgundy podcast is available through iHeartRadio Podcast network. The first episode of this season premiered last week and featured democratic presidential candidate,  Kamala Harris, along with some shenanigans spilling over from the first season. Dressing Funny

Comics can have many talents but dressing is not necessarily one of those talents. Tan France from Queer Eye is lending his services and expertise to the comedy community. He is adding his flare, style and fashion to the comedy scene. He asks Netflix comedians to come in for a wardrobe make over. Just to name a few, Nick Kroll, Ali Wong, Tina Fey, and Pete Davidson. If you comment on the video he may just bring your favorite Netflix comic in!

Stand ups Doing Make Up

We all know Kelsey Cook from her podcast, Self-Helpless, and her video series on All Things Comedy, Wrists of Fury, but have you seen or remember her show on youtube, Stand-ups Doing Makeup? She is a foosball champ, hilarious comedian, and a really good makeup artist. Is there anything she can’t do? With that being said there are many comedians that should just stick to telling jokes on stage. Despite their best efforts, her guests transform Kelsey’s face into some version of the joker without fail. It is the thought that counts though, right? Some guests on the show were Sean Patton, Mark Normand, Ryan Sickler, Bert Kreischer, Brad Williams, Jessimae Peluso, Jim Norton, and Sam Tripoli. Kelsey no longer does this show but it is nice to go down memory lane!

Joke House

A hilarious concept for a show! Netflix got 7 of their comics to enter into Joke House! A parody in which 7 comics stay in a one bed hotel room and try to stand each others company. Much like Big Brother, each comic serves a different purpose and what havoc they will create for the group. Unfortunately it is only a 5 minute trailer but it is a hilarious 5 minutes that shows how fun and ridiculous the comedy world is. Still kind of wish it was a real show but with only 5 minutes of footage you can really see the craziness ensue.

Rockstar Kyle Kinane

If you have ever seen Kyle Kinane’s comedy then it is not a far leap to a punk rocker. He has always had a rockstar vibe that is finally being tested by his new venture into music. Hearing his voice over Comedy Central for years, it can be hard to believe that he has a great singing voice. But his raspy voice translates perfectly with this genre of music. A music video was released last month of the single of their debut album. Take a look at “Disappear” by Off With There Heads below. You can pre-order the whole album now for an August 16th release date. There is nothing that this man can’t do!

Whitney, Can I Touch it?

She is back with a brand new special. Whitney Cummings has been working and touring this hour for years but the wait is over. If you have seen here on Twitter or Instagram you will know that between writing on TV shows and taking care of animals, she has also been slaying on stages around the country. It was great when she was here back in September and not just because she surprised a bachelorette party in their limo. Whitney is an incredible comic and incredible person. Jo Koy & son

Have you ever wondered how the kids feel about their parents doing comedy? Can you imagine if you were one of the main focuses in their act, to be the butt of the joke? Now think if you dad was one of the biggest comics in the world and told jokes about you taking long showers. Well you no longer have to imagine it because last month Netflix had Jo Koy and his son sit down to discuss Jo’s most recent hour released on Netflix, called Comin’ In Hot. Little Jo reacts and has a great sense of humor about the whole thing which is a testament to how Jo Koy raised him. Watch the the video below to see what we are talking about!

Sword of Trust

IFC Films has a new movie coming out on July 12th called Sword of Trust starring Marc Maron, Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street), Michaela Watkins (Casual), and Jon Bass (Baywatch). The movie is a drama but with this hilarious cast there are bound to be some laughs along with an incredible story.

“Mel (Marc Maron) is a cantankerous pawnshop owner in Alabama who spends most of his time swindling customers while trying and failing to get his man-child employee Nathaniel (Jon Bass) to do any work. When Cynthia (Jillian Bell) and her wife Mary (Michaela Watkins) try to hawk a Civil War-era sword inherited from Cynthia’s recently deceased grandfather, he tries to get the better of them. The sword, however, comes with a convoluted report from Cynthia’s grandfather claiming the relic to be proof the South actually won the war. It isn’t long before the coveted “prover item” draws the attention of overzealous conspiracy theorists and the two duos have to join forces in order to sell the sword to the highest bidder. The journey that ensues takes the ragtag bunch on a tour through the deep South and the minds of the local fanatics who inhabit it. Created from the raw talent of its cast and infused with a lot of heart and laughs, Sword of Trust takes a stab at uncovering emotional truths through moments of hilarity and hits right on the mark.” – IFC Films
