Jeselnik without Apology

Anthony Jeselnik had a show years ago on Comedy Central called The Jeselnik Offensive. It was short lived and cancelled. Anthony Jeselnik has since gone on touring, being his unapologetic self, and recording a Netflix special. After his on going success, Comedy Central must have realized they made a huge mistake letting Anthony go. Jeselnik is back on Comedy Central with a new talk show that is raw, funny, and really answers the hard questions facing comedians today. Good Talk with Anthony Jeselnik premiered earlier this month and continues to bring a much needed raw and dark talk to the talk show landscape.

Increasing Sketch Comedy Diversity

The sketch comedy landscape has been evolving the past few years to include a more diverse selection of programs. This is apparent with newer comedic offerings of Los Espookys (HBO), Sherman’s Showcase (IFC), and A Black Lady Sketch Show (HBO). More mainstream networks are paying attention too with TBS’ The Last O.G. The increase in diversity helps bring in a wider audience, with more variety to appeal to the average viewer and a fresh take on what is considered funny. Sword of Trust

IFC Films has a new movie coming out on July 12th called Sword of Trust starring Marc Maron, Jillian Bell (22 Jump Street), Michaela Watkins (Casual), and Jon Bass (Baywatch). The movie is a drama but with this hilarious cast there are bound to be some laughs along with an incredible story.

“Mel (Marc Maron) is a cantankerous pawnshop owner in Alabama who spends most of his time swindling customers while trying and failing to get his man-child employee Nathaniel (Jon Bass) to do any work. When Cynthia (Jillian Bell) and her wife Mary (Michaela Watkins) try to hawk a Civil War-era sword inherited from Cynthia’s recently deceased grandfather, he tries to get the better of them. The sword, however, comes with a convoluted report from Cynthia’s grandfather claiming the relic to be proof the South actually won the war. It isn’t long before the coveted “prover item” draws the attention of overzealous conspiracy theorists and the two duos have to join forces in order to sell the sword to the highest bidder. The journey that ensues takes the ragtag bunch on a tour through the deep South and the minds of the local fanatics who inhabit it. Created from the raw talent of its cast and infused with a lot of heart and laughs, Sword of Trust takes a stab at uncovering emotional truths through moments of hilarity and hits right on the mark.” – IFC Films
