“Die of cancer of the ass”: A Lisa Lampanelli sensitivity seminar

Just as attending a Gallagher show calls for a poncho, a Lisa Lampanelli show more or less calls for an extra skin. The savage sweetheart loves a crowd that includes all races, ethnicities, and sexual orientations, because that sends her off on more stereotype-fueled crowd-baiting tangents. Surprisingly, getting ripped on at a Lamps show may be one of the warmest experiences a comedy fan can have.  (full article here)

AV Club Blogs about Jim Jefferies

While plenty of comics don’t mind offending their audiences a little, Australian stand-up Jim Jefferies would likely mind it very much if he didn’t offend people on a routine basis. The apparently punchable Jefferies is most widely known for his savage, painfully funny attacks on religion and other moral hang-ups. But no matter how well he does that, it’s a bit like repeatedly shooting an elephant in the ass. Luckily, he knows how to dig into other targets. Before his run of shows Thursday through Saturday at Comedy WorksThe A.V. Club scoured the video record for other, less obvious victims of Jefferies’ raffish scorn.

BLUE AS A BOY CAN BE

Josh Blue is a man of many talents and a short attention span.  Perhaps best known as the comedian who puts the Cerebral in Cerebral Palsy and the winner of season 4 of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, this Denver resident and nationally touring headline comedian is also a very talented artist.  Josh’s artwork ranges from abstract paintings to doodles on coasters.  His art will be on display at the Access Gallery at 909 Santa Fe Drive with an opening reception on Friday, September 17th and a special Meet the Artist event on Wednesday, September 22nd.  The September 22nd event will coincide with the 30th Anniversary of VSA Arts of Colorado so please join us for this “Blue Birthday Bash”…Come down and have a piece of cake!  Access Gallery and VSA Arts of Colorado are creating a world where people with disabilities have the opportunity to learn through, participate in, and enjoy the arts.  There will be a silent auction, great food and one of the funniest people you will ever meet!

Robert was a friend; and I mean the real definition of friend, not some show-bizzy version where “my dearest, closest friend” means, “Although we haven’t actually met, the two of us could do business together if someone held guns to our heads.”

We like each other and respected each other, but the first is more important: We liked each other. And I suppose I intentionally started on something else, because there is so much loss in life to balance the gain. I guess we never really look at it each time it shows its face. But there is so much happiness available in life.

And Robert had so much loss in his, but he still had such a gleam of happiness in his eye; and I never knew how he did.
